Creating a culture of innovation
TechGrowth Ohio and Ohio University’s Center for Entrepreneurship have combined resources at the university to inspire and enable the university’s entrepreneurs in the technology space. The two entities work together to develop educational and outreach programs to allow Ohio University’s faculty and students another avenue to enter the TechGrowth Ohio pipeline and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Students have opportunities to work directly with start-ups and shadow the TechGrowth Ohio investment processes, including market research, business development, technology commercialization, and due diligence. TechGrowth Ohio also provides direct assistance and funding to student entrepreneurs who compete for resources alongside other entrepreneurs both at Ohio University and in the region.
Ohio University faculty and staff inventors may also work with the Office of Technology Transfer to license their innovations to a company or directly with the TechGrowth Ohio process to develop a start-up company. The office works closely with the Innovation Center, the university’s small business incubator for high-tech and biotechnology startups; the Edison Biotechnology Institute, an interdisciplinary research facility focused on technology commercialization; TechGrowth Ohio; and the Center for Entrepreneurship.
“The TGO team was vital in getting us launched. By having their help and the money they gave us, they helped launch us like a rocket from day one.”
