Announcing a new opportunity for technology innovation in Ohio
October cohorts are forming now for an exciting new opportunity focused on helping entrepreneurs transform technology innovations into growing businesses.
The Ohio SBIR Technology Acceleration Program (TAP) is designed as a week-long program that demystifies the SBIR process for eligible small businesses. It offers free commercialization training, helping these businesses define the business value of their technology innovations.
How to attend SBIR TAP
There are two October cohorts with the first starting on October 3 and the second starting on October 17. Each is one week in duration and held virtually on Monday through Friday from noon until 3:00 pm EST. Space is limited, so early application is recommended.
By drawing on extensive relationships through OHIO’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) and the Air Force Research Lab (AFLR) and its affiliates, SBIR TAP will potentially help transform those innovations into SBIR-enabled small businesses that will thrive and grow in Ohio.
What is SBIR?
The highly competitive Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program (www.sbir.gov) stimulates technological innovation, meets federal research and development needs, and increases the private-sector commercialization of funded technologies. The SBIR program is used by 11 different federal agencies including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA and others. Research contracts are generally awarded for between $50,000 – $1.5 million depending on the agency – and do not impair the receiving company with debt or equity obligations.
A partnership for technology innovation success
The Ohio SBIR Technology Acceleration Program is presented through the partnership of the Entrepreneur’s Center, Ohio Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and TechGROWTH Ohio, sponsored by Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership & Public Service.
